Clic is pleased to present “Between Dog & Wolf”, an exhibition of new Polaroids by New York photographer Mikael Kennedy. Fresh off the heels of Kennedy’s internationally-lauded “Passport to Trespass” series which documented over a decade of the artist’s travels via Polaroids, “Between Dog & Wolf”  is an exploration of the dual ferity and domesticity of human existence. Derived from the French saying “L’heure entre chien et loupe”(the hour between dog and wolf) which refers to the golden hour right after sunset, “Between Dog & Wolf” presents photos of the people in Kennedy’s life at moments when their innate liminality is fully exposed.

Taken from 2010-2011, this new photo series marks a new era in the artist’s career and life. According to Kennedy “I found a note in my desk that I had scribbled down late one night recently while editing this show that said “It felt like I was touring around, saying goodbye to a life” Joseph Campbell in the hero’s journey talks about the “going and the return” – that the full circle is needed for a journey to be complete. I can’t tell
whether this work is me on the way in or out of the door right now, maybe it’s me standing in that portal looking in both directions.”

Between Dog & Wolf is Kennedy’s second solo NYC show and will be on view from Thursday June 7th through July 8th.
