My work is a process, thus the (4) dates for each study, relating to the many doctrines of painting, more specifically recent Western painting; stretching of the canvas, painting, framing, and hanging.
I use these as a methodology for beginning and creating the studies, questioning each concept and contradicting what is accepted in conjunction with various architectural ideologies; axis, datum, symmetry, false perspective, etc. as expressed by manipulating patterns of acrylic and integrating metal fastener and structural members organized about the so-called canvas and frame.
By allowing the study to exist within space as much as they create it, my intentions to illicit one to engage each study physically, as well as mentally, thus creating a dialogue between the studies and the audience.
