Growing up in Brazil, Andrew Strasser witnessed the extreme jealousy of American media and products by the Brazilian people, especially throughout the 1980’s in the midst of consumer driven American professionalism and popular culture. Since then, he has spent his time as an artist trying to unearth the manipulations of those products, while also including his findings in his own work as examples of what they were and how they worked to seduce.

More recently and as a reaction to his findings in New York City, Andrew has gone against his own fully realized aesthetic and has developed an extremely graphic exoskeleton called “Bad Brilliance”, a hybrid between a human and a brand. This character comes as a result of his work in the event and society photography world where recognition is everything. After having sidestepped many of the conventions of being a socialite through his functional character the project has been toured around the Netherlands, the UK, Miami, and several appearances throughout all of the United States, including a gallery show in Miami and a performance at Deitch Projects in Long Island City.
