“Here’s the art of silencing words, but… to say what exactly.”

Lemay. Excerpt from a notebook, 1991, p.34 (Our translation)

This sentence, which was found in the galerie B-312 guest book and is addressed to an artist who exhibited in 1991, became the leitmotiv of this work. In superimposing all the writings in the notebooks on a single page, I worked on the opacity of reading to see what would resist to this accumulation of words. Through this flattening out of the book pages and their stratification, it is the unfolding of the manuscript’s history that is silenced and its drawing that speaks.
