Anne’s dark and playful aesthetic developed during her education in Europe and her subsequent decade of nomadism. As a video artist, she utilizes the environment around her by captivating viewers and drawing them into a world entirely of her own.
Eating is a series of small rituals, a meditation we enjoy solo or with others.
Koch’s (eat) exhibition displays this as a ceremonial act – one that we share and which connects us all over the world.
The backgrounds and environment are what the artist usually notes first, and then the food is chosen locally. Koch’s clothing is whatever she is wearing that day.
In her (eat) film series Koch consumes different foods in various places around the world. She performed her final (eat) piece at the Tate Modern in London, UK, and exhibited her film “(eat) lobster 2011” at Art Basel Miami in December of 2011.
As a Production Designer in the fashion world, Koch’s eccentric designs and ideas have been featured in Vogue Italia, Teen Vogue, V, Harper’s Bazaar, Numéro, The New York Times, Elle, and Purple Magazine in collaboration with photographers such as Paolo Roversi, Peter Lindbergh, Arthur Elgort, Patrick Demarchelier, and Sebastian Kim. www.annekoch.com
