Painting acrylic portals, as he calls them, Michal Balazik plays the artistic tour guide to new worlds, new realities, or perhaps this reality viewed in a different light. Building layer upon layer of paint this Slovakian artist brings us a view of nature that is not one to understand, but one to loose yourself in. Beginning his painted expression with spray paint, Michal Balazkik moved on to acrylics and is now exploring oils. Does the medium change the output? He says no, explaining that when something needs to be expressed, it doesn’t matter how or with what; it thrives on the desire to be seen and shown. Michal Balazik is abstract. That’s the easiest way to put it.

Michal Balazik is abstract. That’s the easiest way to put it. Looking at his paintings one might experience a sense of vertigo that is akin to a sort of spiritual awakening under the lotus tree. A deep connection with nature that pierces the simple façade of what we see and opens us up to what we experience.

It’s not every day one is able to freely express their passions. The artwork that Michal Balazik creates is ripe with fervor. From a burning yellow-orange surrounded by red, juxtaposed by a stark black-and-white section reminiscent of the dribbling genius of Pollock, to a vibrant wilderness of the elements layered with pathways that look like tree branches.

Michal Balazik brings a new, abstract eye to nature. Being an artist he has been able to view nature with a new-found perception, a perception he is able to skew and change to the point where it’s no longer a question, but an answer.
