My work explores my cultural identity, the sense of suspension that I
find myself in, the tension I feel exists between two different
cultures: Nicaragua, my country of origin and Britain my country of
residence. By exploring this tension through Collage, Paintings and
Relief Work I generate a visual language, which expresses their
dynamics through hard-edged color and form. I represent them within a
strong but simple composition; shapes that fight against each other in
a space. I use vibrant colors those which express succinctly, visually
and aesthetically the strongest tension, particularly that produced by
polarities.
