Sonja Schenk, is a series of paintings based on photos that people have
taken of themselves and placed on the internet. At one time, Native
Americans believed that photographs could steal the soul, capturing it
inside the object that holds their likeness. They believed in a
personal spirit that must be kept private. Today, things are not so
clear. Project|Capture deals in this way with the disappearing realm of
the private in modern life.
