Kelly Sipes

My interest in
painting is focused on characteristics of the medium seen in layering,
revealing duration through the transparent surfaces and substrata of
each image. The recent introduction of pattern in my work, such as a
linear or circular motif, is unaffected by my own gestural mark-making,
allowing for a broader range of formal investigations while maintaining
that which is present in my own aesthetic.
