Jovi Schnell’s colorful works are poetic expressions that seek to tug at the mysteriousness of life. Fusing the organic and the mechanic, myth and symbol she invents playful networks that often illuminate the fantastical functioning of laboratories, organisms, and flora. Along with creating site specific installations, Jovi is presently working on a series of gouache paintings on paper. These works take their insight from the symbolic Tree of Life and whimsically integrate her emblematic forms of Nature, Technology and Humanity. She currently teaches at the California College of the Arts in San Francisco.
