Jan Irvine’s working life has always been as an illustrator/artist. Initially, through her love of figurative drawing (and clothes.), she worked for 6 years in the fashion and textile field in a London studio.Their clients included ICI, Courtaulds and large companies in America and Japan. Becoming freelance, she worked for advertising companies, beauty manufacturers and for numerous fashion magazines (nearly every one except Vogue!).

She also enjoyed lecturing part-time at a number of universities e.g. Kingston Surrey, Liverpool and Brighton.  She exhibits regularly and works mainly in pencil, pen & ink, conté. She is commissioned as a portrait artist to work in watercolour. Her present passion is drawing from the moving body and this has taken her from boxing, ballet and football, to pole-dancing, salsa and flamenco in Spain. She’s constantly looking for new challenges; drawing at London Fashion Week, ‘Stomp’ at The Dome, Brighton, Anthony Mingella’s production of Madam Butterfly in Covent Garden.
