Mr. Yamanaka was born in 1959 in Hyogo, Japan. He opened his first solo exhibition in 1989 with the work, "Arakan," at the Yurakucho Asahi Gallery in Tokyo, and exhibited several works in 1992 at such venues as the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Space and the Exhibition Hall, Sendai Youth Cultural Center, Sendai. Mr. Yamanaka has participated in numerous group exhibitions and has displayed his work extensively in Europe, in countries such as Scotland, Denmark, Germany and Hungary. He has privately published the text he writes to accompany his compelling photographs.
