Young-hee You graduated from Ewha Women’s University in Seoul in 1970. She also studied at the Musashino Art College of Tokyo before receiving her M.F.A. in Painting from Sung-Shin Women’s University. To date, You has had 22 solo exhibitions throughout New York, Tokyo, Osaka, and Seoul. The freeness of You’s work has been influenced by the American Abstract Expressionists, especially the aesthetics of Rothko. In whole, the works of Young-Hee You can be deconstructed into four parts: lines, texture, color, and structure.
