I mainly use scavenged materials for my work. I start off with drift wood from the river. After the wood has been banging arould in the Ohio for a few months, it makes it nice and soft for carving. Also, it strips the bark off for me. I rough out the bodies with hand tools. The heads and arms are often carved separately and added at the end. Then I begin to cover the surface with metal. I have used recycled ceiling tin, old candy tins, and fallen rain gutters. Really, anything I can get my hands on that is thin enought to bend with my fingers. The metal is then cut into small squares and nailed the the wooden figure. Acrylic paint is used to surface the heads and hands
