Elizabeth Babyn Majored in Drawing and Painting at the Ontario College
of Art and Design in Toronto, Ontario. Process is an integral part of
her artwork. In addition to playing with the raw and primed canvas
surface she implements the use of the trowel and pallet knife at the
outset of each painting. With large gestured strokes, Babyn explores the effects of gravity on canvas as she harnesses the drip marks provided by chance. These drip marks offer potential keys for further dialogue, structure and development as a rhythmic musical interplay of color and texture is achieved.
