The German artist Detlev Buerlein is drawing his interest in art since his early childhood. But six years ago he discovered his deep passion in watercolor paintings. And finally he started to create his paintings in watercolor-ink-technique. He taught himself the knowledge of portrait and figurative painting is drawing his interest in art since his early childhood. But six years ago he discovered his deep passion in watercolor paintings. And finally he started to create his paintings in watercolor-ink-technique which already have beeing shown at several exhibitions. He taught himself autodidactically the knowledge of portrait and figurative painting. His goal is to present the mood and thougts and feelings of his portrayed persons as naturally and as realistically as possible. Marilyn Monroe, as one of the most famous American faces has already been portrayed over and over again but never in the way Buerlein is presenting her. His watercolor of her shows her mood and feelings in a transparent way. Her desire of having fun in her life can be read in her eyes. Her curiousity and scepticism is expressed by her lifted eyebrow, and her passion is formulated by her red lips.
