For several years I have been photographing ants. I first became attracted to them while I was living in Florida. |
For several years I have been photographing ants.
I first became attracted to them while I was living in Florida. I had
never seen so many ants before. As I watched them, I was fascinated by
the patterns that they made while they foraged for food in my kitchen.
These patterns started out being very chaotic and them became a
distinct design. I started photographing these designs.As
my work has progressed, I started to draw patterns with honey and then
let the ants fill them in. I take photos at various stages as the ants
cluster around the honey.The intent of the
photos is to show patterns that are intriguing enough that people will
notice that they are formed by ants. I want to show the way ants work
individually and but also as a group and that their organization
reflects that of all life forms.
