My recent work has been an exploration of archetype and psychological states. I wanted the viewer to be confronted by the silence in my work.Typically, my work is in a graphic medium, pure drawing, printmaking or a mix of the two. These mediums allow my quiet imagery to have more force due to their nature. Particularly in printmaking, the layered impressions break the flatness of the picture plane and stretch forward toward the viewer, instead of receding in space as they do in painting. Graphic mediums allow light to have more impact, and thus it becomes the transformative substance in my work. These ideas allow my work to be distilled into pure meaning and emotion.
