I began using water to abstract forms of everyday life. After I started painting, the implications of what water signifies to me, became clear. Cleansing, purifying, clarifying. Water as life. As death. As abstractions. Beauty distorted. The ugly made beautiful.

As I paint, the object takes second place to what I see as an abstract exploration into what the physical world signifies.
The material becoming spiritual, ethereal, indefinable. A process of simplification, dissolution and clarification take precedence over the once definable image.

As well as using people, out of necessity, to realize what I intended to paint, I have created a world of aquatics. Using small models of trucks, motorcycles, pools, etc. and enlarging them in my paintings to a life-size scale, has allowed me to discover a visual interpretation of a more metaphysical arena.
