Richard (Dick) Black is an accomplished painter, whose work has appeared in the Saturday Evening Post, and commissioners include Procter and Gamble. A Philadelphia native, Blacks life is one of strong family ties, hard work and numerous national and local awards.  He grew up during the depression, the youngest of six children, and lost his mother at the age of twelve. After attending The University of Syracuse on a scholarship, as well as numerous art schools, he held several positions in Philadelphia including Assistant Art Director and Graphic Sketch Artist before being drafted into World War II.  His unique artistic talent led him to Wright Field where he painted murals and airplanes in actual military maneuvers based on engineering drawings.  His work helped Congress better understand aircraft capabilities before awarding military contracts.
