Cynthia Brody has been an exhibiting artist for 30 years. She combines photo imagery with oil paints and found materials to create allegorical images and moods. Brody has created pieces that depict women, often in surreal surroundings and utilizing varied media, who seem to be waiting for what comes next in their lives. Themes are represented are; love, relationships with men and children, and the place of women within society. Her works incorporate elements of beauty contrasted with the strong statements and pensive attitudes of the women depicted. Ms. Brody is also a psychotherapist practicing in the San Francisco, California area. Her interest in the psyche is reflected in her artwork. She is a contributing artist and editor of Bittersweet Legacy – Creative Responses to the Holocaust, an anthology of art and poetry, and has curated related museum and gallery exhibits.
