I did this shoot for Vice Magazine’s 2008 fashion issue. I’d wanted to do an anti-fashion shoot for some time, one in which all the clothes were worn incorrectly or used in a manner considered offensive. For months, a post-it with "shove expensive clothes up someone’s butt" sat on my monitor. The editor at Vice liked the idea. I knew that we’d never get a model from a regular agency to do this kind of shoot, so I asked them to hire Sasha Grey, a beautiful L.A. porn girl, to model for it. I’d worked with her before and knew that I wouldn’t have to explain every shot to her—I knew she would think the idea was funny. | ![]() |

No big labels would give us clothes when they found out who the model was, but the stylist managed to come up with a good vintage assortment.
