layering metal leaf, earth pigments, plaster, and
waxes. Inspired by
ancient art and their textures which are imperfect
and variegated, combined with his love of modernism which is polished
and smooth, artist Richard Hoey combines simple form and textures
through his unique skill of layering metal leaf, earth pigments,
plaster, and waxes. Along with the carving of grooves and lines, these
elements give his paintings and sculpture a very tactile element,
appealing to the touch. Born In Cheshire, England 1968, Hoey lives and
works in London. He has exhibited in London and extensively throughout
the UK, and in 2007 in Chicago and Santa Fe in the US. Hoey is
participating in an exhibition at the Broadway Gallery in NYC, March
1-15
