pAn Amsterdam is the Netherlands’ national art and antiques fair. This year the fair will celebrate its 20th edition on the 19th to 26th of November. Among the 114 exhibitors are nine Belgian and one German antique and art dealers. Patrick Berko of Berko Fine Paintings, Knokke-Heist of Brussels, an exhibitor since 1994, describes pAn Amsterdam as “a fair for connoisseurs.” “Many of my clients and friends are enthusiastic about the quality and the elegance of pAn Amsterdam. Above all they find it delightful to combine their visit to the fair with a weekend in Amsterdam, a city with so many cultural and culinary delights.” pAn Amsterdam takes place in the RAI Parkhal in Amsterdam and is being organised by the same team that organises the famous international art and antiques fair TEFAF Maastricht.
pAn Amsterdam owes its reputation to the high quality and great variety of European objects d’art and furniture, paintings and prints, jewellery, antiques and non-European art. Lovers of contemporary art and modern precious metals as well as collectors of old masters, antique jewellery and 18th century furniture can find something to delight them at pAn Amsterdam.
pAn Amsterdam is a must for all lovers of art and antiques who love refreshing combinations of old and modern and the opportunity to purchase beauty of lasting value. Moreover pAn Amsterdam offers visitors the highest possible guarantee of trustworthiness. One day before the opening of the fair all objects are vetted for quality, authenticity and condition by 17 specialist vetting panels consisting of around 80 experts. If an object does not satisfy the requirements it is removed from the floor.
The fair covers at least 12,000 square meters, the size of two football pitches. Several sophisticated catering zones offer plenty of opportunities to sit, reflect on the art and enjoy a snack and a drink. Because antique and modern go so well together at pAn Amsterdam the fair appeals to young and old alike. The prices of the objects vary from around €250 to €1,000,000. Over the last few years pAn Amsterdam has attracted a growing number of young art-lovers who are starting to collect. But seasoned collectors and representatives of museums and corporate collections are also faithful visitors to the fair. In 2005, 31,500 people came to pAn Amsterdam. Many combine their visit with an afternoon shopping in Amsterdam, dinner in one of the many restaurants or a visit to a museum, the theatre or the Concertgebouw.
