Lisa Mordhorst at 500x Gallery in Dallas, Texas
Shae Moore

Mordhorst’s work at the 500x Gallery in Dallas, Texas was big, bright and sharp. Her work depicted desert buttes, mountain peaks, sunsets and horizons. In some of her pieces it seemed as though the land and sky elude to be one. She seems to be recreating landscapes and trying to reconstruct the beauty of nature vs. technology.
She used slightly different perspectives of relatively the same picture, each emphasized in a different way. Her work makes you wonder what is next. She makes you want more, and she encourages you to ask and look for more in her work. You must really study her work to see the slight differences between her pieces. She challenges you to see where she stands in her art, and where you are in reference. It also leaves room for your personal interpretation. Mordhorst puts a fire in the sky, in your mind, and in the space in which you stand.
