    As a
visual scavenger of the city, I’m interested in capturing the moment. My work
is about random opportunities, adventures and discoveries. It’s about
connecting the visual, emotional and organic entities that share our
    environment.

    My
process begins by collecting textures and shapes from surfaces originating from
the street, building or vehicles. I rub, trace or cut out impressions on rag
paper or canvas. These elements become the seeds for my larger drawings and
paintings. The street is my sketchbook. The challenges arise in finding
visually interesting patterns and materials and then choreographing them into
symphonies of color, texture and shape. I work on several drawings or painting
at a time. Each piece inspires the other. The process develops on multiple
levels combining hard-ridged textures, soft organic natural shapes with a
contrasting color palette, evolving into sensual subtle compositions or tough,
    gritty environments.

    My collages
are influenced by primitive art in terms of their simplicity, spontaneity and
strength. Here the primal language inherent in abstraction takes control where
shapes and symbols allow the viewer to determine their own relationship with
    the art.

    The
improvisational techniques in my work create an energy that mirrors the
underlying forces of nature: change. As a designer, I’m aware of the
sophisticated choice I make in my work. However, in my drawings, paintings and
colleges, I want to break all the rules. Italians use the word disegno
style=’font-size:8.0pt;font-family:Verdana’> to describe both drawing and
design, recognizing the inevitable relationship between the two.

    I strive
to integrate chaos with order, freedom with rules… the city is my mentor.
