Art benefactor in call for Capital ‘Guggenheim’

The former art dealer who gave away more than £100 million worth of
contemporary works wants an iconic gallery, similar to the Guggenheim
in Bilbao, to be built in Edinburgh to house it.  Anthony d’Offay said
the collection, described as the most important in the UK, “needs a
great building in Edinburgh”. A tour is planned to show the pieces, by
the likes of Damien Hirst, Ed Ruscha, Robert Mapplethorpe, and Jenny
Holzer, in galleries across the UK. (The Scotsman, March 3, 2008)
