    Museum Location Threatened

    Spanish art collector Baroness Carmen Thyssen threatened Wednesday to move the Thyssen museum to another part of Madrid to protest proposed building works on one of the city’s most emblematic streets. The baroness said a widening of Prado Boulevard to five lanes from three would damage the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum, of which she is patron, and overwhelm visitors with traffic.     Doubts of Pollock Paintings

    A forensic scientist is casting doubt on claims that a cache of recently found paintings was the work of Jackson Pollock, saying many of the pieces include materials available only after the famed abstract expressionist’s 1956 death, a newspaper reported Thursday. James Martin said at least one of the works was painted on a board produced no earlier than the late 1970s, The New York Times reported. Martin, a Williamstown, Mass.-based forensic expert who examined 24 of the 32 paintings at their owner’s request, made his remarks in a lecture Wednesday sponsored by the International Foundation for Art Research in Manhattan, the newspaper said.
