Plane Space opened on August 28, 2002 in an 1855 firehouse in Manhattan’s Greenwich Village. Founded by Bryson Brodie and Chad MacDermid, the gallery mission has been to show the most engaging contemporary art being created today. Designed by the New York-based firm Deborah Berke & Partners Architects LLP, the 1,300 square foot ground floor gallery has housed 48 exhibitions to date.
The gallery’s programming consists of eight exhibitions annually of emerging to mid-career American and international artists working in sculpture, installation, drawing, painting, photography, and video. The art shown is aesthetically driven while demonstrating a strong methodical and technical background.
