“My work exists of composing a multitude of meticulously placed and repeated lines to reveal geometric shapes and patterns. Particularly the repeated use of a single unit, like a straight line, to reveal a synchronized effort I find interesting. The layers of tightly spaced bands of color and collisions of angled lines create optical effects with an elusive and undefined sense of space, shifting colors, moires and deceptively bending lines. An intuitive approach to color, composition and layering choices counters the systematic method of painting. These types of juxtapositions i.e. between approach and methodology, like chaos and pattern, are part of a motivation to seek an orchestrated balance, with a single line as the building unit.”
