Born in Portland, Maine, Tyler McPhee received his undergraduate education in New Media and Philosophy from the University of Maine. After living in Montreal under the U.S. Department of Education FLAS program, he completed M.F.A. in Sculpture at Syracuse University. In 2011, he was a participant at the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture. His work current work considers the formation of archetypes, as they relate to desire, loss and transformation, across a variety media including photography, video and sculpture. Recently, he has exhibited at the Tufts University Art Gallery, Center for Maine Contemporary Art Biennial, Space Gallery, Real Art Ways, and Skulpturenpark Berlin_Zentrum in Berlin, Germany. Lives and works in midcoast Maine.
