I am a young Mexican artist, travelling in Sub-Saharan Africa for over 7 years, with the character Mikinemi, inspired by the famous Catrina, this offers a free space of overlapping imaginations and cultural experiences which allows all of us to arrive at our own interpretation of my experiences and so forth. Like Catrina, the original character, a traditional Mexican symbol, Mikinemi, masks her identity to integrate into other social and cultural systems, I compose work as mythology to represent a way to connect society which is neither tabus nor indulgent.
