The scene of the crime is littered with dusty footprints, several lines of police tape bar entrance into enclaves, and hot, red halogen lights brighten an otherwise dim room. These are just a few of the austere settings in a gripping exhibition on Wall Street entitled "Loft In The Red Zone."
The brainchild of artist and curator, Marikama Dado, the exhibition came about as a personal response to the remains of her lofted downtown studio after 9/11. Like many other artists who working and living in Chinatown, LES, and Soho; Dado quickly found herself disorientated and lost. And the neighborhood, now called "The Red Zone," was never going to be the same again. (...)

Abraham Lubelski’s latest work is quite moving and subtlety thought provoking. Running concurrent with the Venice Biennale, Lubelski is participating in Markers/Mapping/2011. Markers/Mapping/2011 is a group exhibition in Venice initiated by the International Artists’ Museum, this year the eighth exhibition in the “Markers” series in honor of the Venice Biennale 2011 curators Doron Polak and Amir Cohen. The artists participating in this exhibition have mapped their personal or social experiences - stories from their lives and culture to which they belong.
Maps serve as visuals to remind us of where we’ve been and where we’re going. Lubelski’s piece is comprised a repeated two part image printed on business stationery address decals. On the left hand side of the decal is a map of the world on the other side is a picture of Lubelski, nude, lovingly cradling a skeleton. The everyday, corporate quality of the stationary is wonderfully contrasted with the memento mori aspect of the image. The piece serves as a poignant visual reminder of the globally shared experience of life and death. Simultaneously it begs a profound question: “Is it ever possible to map something as abstract as death?” Throughout the exhibition and for the duration of the Biennale pages of decals will be available for visitors to take, peal, and wear.

Globalization,
experimental image making, and avant-garde strategies are a common thread connecting
the works of Andrew Tavarelli and his exhibition ³Double Vision² with
the performance, conceptual presence, and possible exhibition of publisher/ entrepreneur,
gallerist Abraham Lubelski who has provocatively titled his project ³The
Show Has Been Cancelled.² Both projects/ shows have been curated by Charles
Giuliano for the Gallery of the New England School of Art & Design at Suffolk
University. They open on Friday, November 18 from 6 to 8 PM at 75 Arlington Street
and run through December 22.

hotel in New York. The performance is conceived as a public enactment

The traveling exhibition Re: Duchamp is an open-ended (both conceptually and temporally) collaborative work of Abraham Lubelski’s that allows for numerous manifestations and interpretations and encourages wide participation. Re: Duchamp has incorporated the work of over 250 other artists (including Nam June Paik, Dennis Oppenheim, Carl Andre, Ilya + Emilia Kabakov, Inka Essenhigh, Taylor Mead, and Larry Weiner, among others). The most recent works of Abraham Lubelski and incorporate the work of over 250 other artists. The installation is an assemblage of clotheslines from which are hung all the artwork for viewing at one time. These shows become a Duchampain metaphor of the contemporary art world.
